Advisory Board
Fulcrum Ventures’ Advisory Board provides ongoing advice and guidance
to the Partners. The Board also reviews each transaction of the Fund prior
to closing. Each member of the Board is an investor in the Fund and represents
the quality of our investors which includes more than forty CEOs or former
CEOs of significant enterprises in a very diverse range of industries.
Dennis
Crumpler
Dennis Crumpler has over 25 years of experience in building and managing
successful technology companies. Mr. Crumpler founded XcelleNet, Inc.
which became the IT industry leader in systems management for large-scale
remote and mobile systems. During his tenure, XcelleNet executed its initial
public offering in 1994 and was later acquired by Sterling Commerce in
1998.
Prior to XcelleNet, Mr. Crumpler co-founded Sales Technologies, a successful
pioneer in field sales automation software that was acquired by Dun &
Bradstreet in 1989. Subsequent to business school and four years of service
as a U.S. Army Officer, he began his career as a Consultant with McKinsey
& Company in 1982.
Since 1998, Mr. Crumpler has been General Partner of CIMCO, LLC, a private
investment management company in which he has led investments in and advises
Catalysta Ventures (Raleigh), Hatteras Biocapital (Raleigh), Chatham Capital
(Atlanta), and Fulcrum Venture Partners (Atlanta). He also serves as General
Partner of TechDiscovery LLC and Chairman of both Silas Technologies Holdings,
Inc. (Atlanta) and Optima Management LLC (Raleigh).
Mr. Crumpler is a trustee of the Southern Environmental Law Center in
Charlottesville, VA, the UNC Institute for the Environment in Chapel Hill,
NC, and the Sanford Institute of Public Policy at Duke University in Durham,
NC. He is also founder and co-Chairman of the Boys & Girls Club Cycling
Challenge in Charlottesville, VA.
In 1994, Mr. Crumpler was named Technology Entrepreneur of the Year,
an award sponsored nationally by Ernst & Young, Inc. In 1992, he was
named High-Technology Entrepreneur of the Year by Atlanta Business &
Technology Alliance.
Mr. Crumpler holds a BS from MIT and a MBA from Harvard Business School.
Additionally, he has completed PhD coursework at the University of Edinburgh
(UK) as a Rotary International Scholar.
Bradley
Currey, Jr.
Retired Chairman and CEO of Rock-Tenn Company, a manufacturer
of packaging and recycled paperboard products with over $2 billion in
sales.
Brad Currey grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He graduated
from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and
International Affairs in 1951. After service as a U.S. Army enlisted
man and commissioned officer, he joined Trust Company of Georgia in
1953, rising to Executive Vice President and Director of the bank holding
company in 1974. In 1976, he joined Rock-Tenn Company, having served
as a director since 1967. He was named President and Chief Operating
Officer 1978, Chief Executive Officer in 1989 and Chairman of the Board
in 1993.
Mr. Currey served on the Board of Directors and Executive
Committee of Rock –Tenn Company and Genuine Parts Company, and
currently serves on the Board of Brown & Brown, Inc. He was Deputy
Chairman and Chairman of the Board of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta
1984-1989. He served on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee
of the American Forest & Paper Association and of its predecessor
the American Paper Institute for many years. Mr. Currey was a founding
member of the Paper Recycling Coalition. He served as a member of the
Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the Paperboard Packaging
Council and as Vice Chairman and Chairman.
Mr. Currey is an Emeritus Trustee of Emory University,
having been an active member of the Board of Trustees from 1980 to 2000.
He was Chairman from 1994-2000. He served on the Board of Directors
of the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and as Chairman in 1974, the Georgia
Chamber of Commerce and the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Currey
was a trustee and member of the Executive Committee of the Woodruff
Arts Center and is an Honorary Director of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.
He was a Trustee of the Ida Cason Callaway Foundation at Callaway Gardens
and served on the Board of Directors of the Commerce Club.
Mr. Currey is an active member of St. Luke’s Episcopal
Church in Atlanta. He is married to the former Sally McClellan, and
they have four children, ten grandchildren.
Scott
Dorfman
Scott Dorfman is the Founder, Chairman, & CEO of Innotrac
Corporation (NASDAQ: INOC), a full-service provider of customized, technology-based
marketing support services to large corporations, primarily in the telecommunications
industry. In this role, Mr. Dorfman manages the executive committee and
sets the planning, long-term marketing, financial, sales and production
goals for the company.
Prior to founding Innotrac in 1984, Mr. Dorfman was employed
by Paymaster Checkwriter Company, Inc., an equipment distributor, where
he developed and managed Paymaster’s mail order catalog and developed
proprietary software to track and analyze marketing programs. Mr. Dorfman
founded and served as President of Features Mail Order Catalog, where
he gained experience in distribution, tracking and inventory control.
Mr. Dorfman is a member of the Board of Directors of Market
Velocity, Inc., The Lake at Northpoint and the Partnership against Domestic
Violence
Mr. Dorfman received his BA degree from The University of
Georgia in 1979.
